A Saskatchewan man has been sentenced to 15 and a half years in prison for drugging a woman and a little girl and recording himself sexually assaulting them on multiple occasions while living in Saskatoon.
This week, Michael John Slough, 43, pleaded guilty to 16 charges including sexual assault, making child pornography, voyeurism and administering a noxious substance.
Slough was arrested at his home in Willow Bunch, Sask. on June 18, 2015. A pawn shop manager contacted police after he discovered a video of a woman being assaulted on a laptop where the pawn had expired, court heard.
Crown prosecutor Lana Morelli said the adult woman was sexually assaulted approximately 112 times over seven years. She was often drugged, and on one occasion Slough bound her hands behind her back even though she was unconscious.
The woman was in court for the sentencing and gave a victim impact statement. She also provided drawings she had made that depicted her feelings about the abuse.
Between December 2009 and January 2010, Slough also sexually assaulted a seven-year-old girl who he was babysitting. The child appears to be drugged in two videos, and at one point Slough can be seen giving the little girl what’s believed to be Zopiclone, a type of sleeping pill. It’s the same pill he gave to the older victim, Morelli said.
The child was not in court and it’s not known if she was even aware that she had been abused. However, some of her family members attended on her behalf.
Slough was also sentenced for recording three young women while they were changing at work.
The 15-and-a-half-year sentence was a joint-submission between the Crown and defence.
