Serious charges have been laid against three men in Regina, including human trafficking.
Police said on Saturday, they received information that a 24-year-old woman was being held against her will. Officers spoke to the victim about the alleged crimes. The information led police to arrest three men at a downtown hotel.
Jonathan David Campbell, 25, of Edmonton, Abdirahman Kahin, 22, of Regina, and Jama Jibril Roble, 24, of Ottawa are all charged with:
- sexual assault with a weapon
- exercise control, direction or influence over the movements of a person for the purpose of exploiting them or facilitating their exploitation (human trafficking)
- forcible confinement
- procuring
- receive financial benefit knowing it is obtained from the commission of an offense
Campbell is also charged with assault, and breach of recognizance.
Kahin is additionally charged with breach of probation, and sexual assault.
Roble is also charged with assault, obstructing a peace officer, breach of probation, and sexual assault.
The men were in court for the first time on these charges Monday morning.
