The Roughriders have already unveiled their farewell season, so the countdown is on until the last days for the current Mosaic Stadium – and people are reminiscing.
Al Ford both played with the Saskatchewan Roughriders and was the general manager, but when he was with the team, Mosaic Stadium was called Taylor Field. He said he remembers Hemorrhoid Hill, where fans would sit and watch the game instead of being in the stands.
“It was really neat, especially as a player, and your home team, it was a great atmosphere to play in.”
Ford didn’t just play professional football at the stadium, he said he remembers playing Little League baseball, and high school football there.
But one of Ford’s top memories of the stadium is coming back to Regina after the team won the 1989 Grey Cup.
“There were, I don’t know how many thousand people, in the stadium greeting us.”
