Rent reduced for Riders, early budget items approved by Regina Council

Council retroactively slashed $1.33 million in rent owed by the Roughriders.
Vandals struck a City of Regina electronic sign over the weekend, and while some might giggle, the City of Regina isn’t laughing.
The sign was at Gordon Road to warn drivers about the upcoming road closure.
For a short time it instead read “honk if you luv titties”.
The wording of these signs can be changed with the attached keypad, but a password is needed to do so. The city’s Norman Kyle admits, that narrows down the possible culprits.
“It could have been a casual employee, I don’t suspect it would be any permanent employees, but we are looking into to it to see what we can find out,” he told reporters Monday.
The city employs about 15 to 20 casual roadways workers who are typically let go at the end of the season.
The keypad is usually locked, but wasn’t in this case.
As a result, the city has changed its procedures to ensure, not only is the keypad locked, but that passwords are changed on a more regular basis.
While the wording of the sign has provided some giggles on social media, Kyle is calling this vandalism, and isn’t as amused.
