Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan has pleaded guilty to a workplace death almost two years ago.
On Feb. 17, 2014, a worker was killed when he was struck on the head by falling earth at the Cory mine, just west of Saskatoon.
PotashCorp has now pleaded guilty to contravening section 34 of The Mines Regulations, 2003 for failing to take effective steps to control the movement of strata in all underground excavations to protect the health and safety of workers.
The company received a fine of $280,000 as a result.
