The latest report card shows Regina lost roughly half of its oil-related jobs in the last year. However, the city’s economy continues to grow at a higher rate than the rest of the province.
Regina’s economy was the one of the last to enter the downturn being experiences across the country. Impact Regina says the city is expected to be one of the first cities to recover.
Employment rates are up in several sectors including utilities, finance, transportation and food services. Employment growth has been flat in construction, and the overall employment number has dropped by just 0.2 per cent.
