People in the Kenaston area haven’t given up hope of finding Sheree Fertuck, even after closing down the search centre.
The decision to close the centre, located in the community of Highway 11 south of Saskatoon, was made Friday with consultation from Fertuck’s family, coordinator Gene Whitehead said.
While the informal searches have been called off, Whitehead said about 10 people finished checking sloughs in the Rural Municipality of McCraney over the weekend. He said search planes were out last week and most of the RM has since been covered.
Whitehead urged anyone living in nearby rural municipalities to check their properties as well.
“We don’t know how far a person could have gone,” he said.
Fetruck, 51, has been missing since Dec. 7 when she was last seen leaving her family’s farm near Kenaston. The truck she used to haul dirt was discovered abandoned near a gravel pit just off Highway 15 the next morning.
