Over two-thirds of Canadians aren’t done their Christmas shopping.
That’s the takeaway from a national survey conducted by polling firm Angus Reid on behalf of CIBC.
Overall, the poll found 69 per cent of Canadians still hadn’t finished shopping as of Dec. 15.
Joanna Winichuk was among the shoppers taking on the crowds at Midtown Plaza on Monday.
Admitting that she was getting a late start, she said she wasn’t worried .
“Honestly, everyone’s quite easy (to buy for), because I kind of know what to get people — listening throughout the year always helps,” she said.
Winichuk had some advice for people navigating busy malls in the week leading up to Christmas.
“Remember it’s a happy time of year and just stay calm. Breathe,” she said.
The CIBC poll found that shoppers age 18 to 34 are the most likely to shop at the last minute. Overall, 20 per cent of last minute shoppers reported that they expected to go over their budgets.
