The $1.33M rent reduction comes from what the club owed during seasons impacted by the pandemic.
Seven months after the Edmonton Rush officially became the Saskatchewan Rush, the team debuts under the new name at the Scotiabank Saddledome.
“It’s is a new era but we bring the same championship team so we have a strong team and they know that,” said Rush president Lee Genier. “We’re bringing a new flare to the game.”
In the midst of a heated provincial rivalry while the Rush were still in Edmonton, Genier said he expects the rivalry to be just a furious.
“Calgary was our biggest rival and now that we’re in Saskatchewan it’s going to be an even bigger rivalry,” Genier said, adding energy during the week’s practices was up in anticipation for the new season.
While the Rush don’t play at home until Jan. 15, televisions across Saskatchewan will be turned to TSN 3 which will be carrying the game live starting a 8 p.m. CST, a huge opportunity to create some buzz for Saskatchewan’s new pro sports team.
“It’s massive really. It’s Saskatchewan’s newest team and it should be very exciting for everyone.”
