The Saskatchewan Roughriders have found the final man to round out their coaching staff.
The team announced on Tuesday the hiring of Markus Howell as the team’s new receivers coach.
Howell comes to Saskatchewan after spending the last five seasons on the Winnipeg Blue Bombers coaching staff. Howell joined the Bombers in 2011 as a defensive coach and special teams assistant before coaching the linebackers later that year.
The Winnipeg native was originally drafted by his hometown Bombers in the fourth round of the 2000 CFL Draft. Howell would go on to play 11 seasons in the CFL with Winnipeg, Ottawa and Calgary as a receiver, defensive back and kick returner.
Howell caught 151 passes for 2,062 yards and nine touchdowns. He also returned 77 kickoffs and 246 punts for 3,911 yards and two touchdowns.
Defensively, Howell registered 28 tackles and 21 special teams tackles.
Howell won a Grey Cup with the Calgary Stampeders in 2008.
