Cold temperatures won't last in southern Saskatchewan

Temperatures in Regina and southern Saskatchewan will dip down for what seems like the first time this winter, but CJME weather specialist John Wilson says the chilly weather won’t be sticking around.

On Wednesday morning, Wilson told the CJME Morning Show that the weekend will see temperatures fall. Regina and southern Saskatchewan may only see highs of -20 C for the following week.

Wilson said the polar vortex is reaching further south, bringing the colder temperatures with it.

“That is what steers cold air from the north due south right into Regina and southern Saskatchewan.”

By the third week of January, Wilson says mild temperatures should return.

As for snow, Wilson believes the dry winter will continue.

“The light snow we get over the next 48 hours might be all we get over the next week.”
