Regina police have laid charges against a second person in the murder of 48-year-old Matthew John Wells last year.
On Friday morning, the Regina Police Service announced that 25-year-old Jason Dustin Hotomanie of Broadview is being charged in the case.
Wells’ body was discovered at a home in the 1500 block of Robinson Street early on Oct. 22, 2015. Police had been called to the area for a report of an injured person. At the time, RPS said shots “may have been fired”.
Police also investigated a shooting on the 2200 block of Robinson Street the same morning. Police believe a reported arson and theft from a vehicle that night is also connected.
In December, a 15-year-old boy was charged with second-degree murder in the case, among other charges.
Hotomanie faces charges of second-degree murder, theft under $5,000, arson causing damage to property, discharge a restricted or prohibited firearm, being an occupant in a motor vehicle knowing there was a firearm, possession of a firearm obtained by crime, possession of a firearm contrary to prohibition.
