The tray refusal at the Regina Correctional Centre may be over, but more concerns are being brought up about the private company contracted to provide food services at the jail, Compass Group.
According to media reports, a worker with Compass was caught having sex with an inmate.
The Ministry of Justice did not confirm the details to media, but did say it had been informed of a security incident. The worker in question is no longer employed at the jail, and the ministry said it is happy with how the situation was handled.
Earlier this week more than 100 inmates at the centre refused to eat the food they were given, complaining about the quality of the food. A similar protest took place at the end of last year over uncooked eggs.
Last year Compass Group Canada took over food services for eight Saskatchewan jails, the Regina Correctional Centre being one of them.
