A teen has been charged after an online threat put two Regina high schools into a secured mode Monday.
On Tuesday, the Regina Police Service announced that a 17-year-old boy who had been taken into custody Monday has been charged with uttering threats. The teen can’t be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
The boy was taken into custody after police investigated a threat that had been made on social media to a student at Balfour Collegiate. The threat was received Monday morning, and police advised both Balfour and the neighbouring Miller Comprehensive High School to enter a “secure the building” mode as a precaution.
The secured mode was lifted by 2:30 p.m.
The teen will make his first court appearance on Feb. 25.
