Cold blast sticking around in southern Saskatchewan

While Wednesday brings some relief from a blast of cold weather in southern Saskatchewan, CJME weather specialist John Wilson says the system bringing cold temperatures will be sticking around for a little while.

Wilson told the CJME Morning Show Wednesday that the area will endure another two weeks or so of cold temperatures due to the arctic high pressure. However, it doesn’t look like any big storms are on the way that can sometimes come with arctic high pressure.

The Queen City in particular will experience a very cold weekend with daytime highs reaching -23 C Saturday and -21 C Sunday.

“Those nighttime lows will be pushing -30 C or maybe a little lower. It’s going to be some of that famous mid-winter cold,” Wilson said.

Temperatures next week will remain cold, according to Wilson, but will come with a lot of sunshine.
