One person has died and two others were hurt in a crash on Highway 9 north of Yorkton Wednesday morning.
Police say the investigation shows that a minivan was heading south when it attempted to pass another vehicle on the highway. According to RCMP, the minivan lost control and was hit by a pickup truck heading north.
One person who was in the van died at the scene of the crash and another was transported to the Regina General Hospital. The driver of the truck appeared to have minor injuries and was taken to the hospital for observation.
Traffic was detoured along that section of Highway 9 for most of the day while police officers investigated the scene. The highway was reopened around 4 p.m.
The age and gender of the person who was killed has not been made public at this time.
