The Roughriders have filled a hole left behind on their defensive line following the release of John Chick on Thursday with the signing of defensive end Shawn Lemon.
Reports broke on Thursday that Lemon had signed with the Riders and the team made that news official on Friday morning.
Lemon rejoins the Riders for his sixth CFL season. He previously played for the Edmonton Eskimos, Calgary Stampeders and Ottawa Redblacks.
So far, the 27-year-old has registered 80 tackles and 28 sacks in 46 career games.
Lemon played one regular season game with the Riders in 2011 after joining the team mid-season. Lemon joined the Eskimos in 2012 then spent two years with the Stampeders.
Following the Stampeders Grey Cup victory in 2014, Lemon tried his luck in the NFL with the Pittsburgh Steelers and San Francisco 49ers.
Lemon returned to the CFL in the middle of the 2015 season with the Redblacks.
Terms of the deal were not released.
