Two people are facing charges after Regina police were called about a possible shooting on Halifax Street Sunday night.
The Regina Police Service received the call around 7:30 p.m. about possible shots being fired in the 100 block of Halifax Street. Witnesses told officers that a number of vehicles left the neighbourhood following the sound of shots; one was a white Malibu and the driver looked to be carrying a gun.
Police in the area spotted a vehicle matching the description near Toronto Street and 2nd Avenue. The officers pulled the vehicle over, exercising caution due to the possibility that the driver may have a gun.
Two people inside the car were arrested. Officers also found a sawed-off .22-calibre rifle.
Michael Lee Omilon, 23, of Wolseley and 21-year-old Dakota Jordan Michelle Koch of Regina are charged with careless use of a firearm and unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon.
