The celebration is on for Regina’s Mark McMorris.
The 22-year-old captured gold at the X Games 2016 Aspen Men’s Snowboard Slopestyle event Saturday afternoon.
It was not all smiles for McMorris to start the competition. He scored a 13.33 in his first run but bounced back with a 92.66 in his second run. His third run — which scored a 24.00 — did not mean much as he had already captured the gold.
McMorris squeeked by Montreal native Sebastien Toutant who scored an impressive 90.00 in his first try and finished in second place.
This is back-to-back gold medals for McMorris in the slopestyle event and fourth overall (2012, 2013, 2015, and 2016). McMorris also captured a silver medal in the big air event Friday.
McMorris previously said he would dedicate his performance to the people of La Loche after the mass shooting in that community Jan. 22.
