Jolene Campbell ended Stefanie Lawton’s reign as Saskatchewan’s curling queen.
Campbell shook off a 7-1 round robin loss to Lawton on Saturday and rattled off three wins on Sunday to win her first provincial title.
Her rink of Ashley Howard (third), Callan Hamon (second), and Ashley Williamson (lead) beat the four-time provincial champions 7-4 on Sunday.
The game turned in Campbell’s favour in the fourth end when they were able to steal two from Lawton to take a 5-2 lead. Lawton’s rink was looking for their third straight provincial championship.
Campbell’s rink out of the Highland Curling Club in Regina will now represent Saskatchewan at the National Scotties Tournament of Hearts in Grande Prairie, Alta. which begins on Feb. 20.
This won’t be Campbell’s first Scotties. She was the fifth for Amber Holland’s rink when they appeared in three straight national championships from 2010-2012, winning the national title in 2011.
