A disturbance at the Saskatoon Correctional Centre on Saturday left some staff with minor injuries, according to a government spokesperson.
The Ministry of Corrections is working to determine what caused the riot and if charges need to be laid.
A spokesperson with the Saskatoon Fire Department confirmed they were called out to the correctional facility but waited outside on standby. The official said they were told several small fires were started inside, but that correctional staff put them out.
The ministry would only say that there were some maintenance issues as a result of the disturbance. It did not release any details on how many people were involved or if there was a gang connection.
