Saskatchewan’s premier says he has no problem with the provincial auditor taking a closer look into a land deal west of Regina at the Global Transportation Hub (GTH).
Questions surfaced after a deal was made to purchase 204 acres of land for the GTH and part of the Regina bypass. The NDP opposition are calling for a full investigation into the deal, alleging that the price paid per acre rapidly escalated shortly before the government made the purchase.
Brad Wall maintains he doesn’t think there’s any wrongdoing.
“We welcome any scrutiny of the transactions,” he insisted. “Things were handled appropriately. We welcome any review of it.”
The minister responsible for the GTH, Bill Boyd, maintained that the government had to act fast on the deal, adding that the amount paid was based on appraisals.
