Restaurants and bars across Canada and the United States are expected to be jam-packed Sunday for the year’s biggest sporting event — the Super Bowl.
It is no different in Saskatchewan where establishments are getting ready for what should be a day full of drinking, eating, and cheering. The main event features the two best teams in the NFL this year fighting for supremacy and the right to lift the Vince Lombardi trophy.
Many will gather at the Great Canadian Brewhouse in Regina.
“It’s going to be exciting regardless and it’s going to be a really great atmosphere to be around,” explained Ryan Campion, general manger of the Brewhouse.
The relatively new Regina establishment has seen some pretty energetic crowds over the past few months, said Campion. Most recently, the Toronto Blue Jays magical run to the MLB playoffs and their appearance in the American League Championship Series against the Kansas City Royals last fall.
“With the hype that Super Bowl brings, I think we’ll see a lot similar atmosphere in here,” Campion spoke from the restaurant.
He’s not sure how much beer will be sold Sunday, but provided a guess of around 1,000 pints.
Every bar or restaurant is different but Campion thinks the place will start filling up a couple hours before kick-off.
For his part, Campion is rooting for the Panthers.
“I’m a Chargers fan so I’m basically just cheering against Denver because they’re in the same division as us.”
