Natural gas usage down 7% during mild Sask. winter

Like most toques and mitts, SaskEnergy is now added to the list of things we haven’t needed as much of this winter.
 
The weather has been so mild natural gas usage in the province is down seven per cent. In fact January was the only month that was anywhere close to normal.
 
The Crown corporation had already dropped rates last fall and now customers are seeing even bigger reductions in their bill.
 
“We’re seeing customers probably saving $40 or $50 over the winter just because it has been so mild over three of the four main winter months,” explained Dave Burdeniuk, SaskEnergy’s government and media relations director.
 
Going forward, it may mean SaskEnergy saves money.

“We won’t have to purchase as much because we will come out of winter with more gas in storage,” Burdeniuk admitted.
