Two men are facing a variety of drug-related charges as Regina police investigate drug trafficking in the city.
The Regina Integrated Drug Enforcement Team found evidence that a 26-year-old Regina man was trafficking a controlled substance on Feb. 13 and Feb. 18. Abdifatah Abdullah Hassan was arrested at a business in south Regina on Feb. 18. During the arrest, Hassan was found to be in possession of methamphetamine, cocaine, and marijuana.
Investigators requested a search warrant for a home in the 3200 block of Woodhams Drive. Around the same time, a vehicle was seen leaving the residence, so the vehicle was stopped and searched.
Amin Ilmi, 25, of Edmonton, was found to be in breach of court-ordered conditions and was arrested. Additional charges have been laid against him.
When searching the home on Woodhams Drive, investigators found what they call a significant amount of cocaine as well as methamphetamine and marijuana. There was also a large amount of cash, along with ammunition, weigh scales, and packaging associated to drug trafficking.
Hassan is facing eight charges including possession for the purpose of trafficking, traffic in a controlled substance, and possession of a controlled substance.
Ilmi is facing seven charges including possession for the purpose of trafficking and possession of a controlled substance.
Hassan and Ilmi made their first court appearance Friday afternoon.
