A Saskatchewan snowmobiler lost one of his hands when his sled crashed late Friday night north of North Battleford.
RCMP were called shortly after 11 p.m. to the area just off of Highway 378. Paramedics were already on scene by the time officers arrived.
Mounties say as a result of the single-snowmobile collision, one of the driver’s hands was severed off. The 22-year-old man from North Battleford was flown to hospital in Saskatoon by STARS Air Ambulance.
Police say it appears the snowmobile drove off a steep backslope at the edge of the highway. They say speed, poor visibility and unmarked hazards were all factors in the collision.
