Saskatoon nurse Charmaine Bellamy is the new public school board trustee for Ward 9.
Bellamy captured 247 out of 737 votes cast in Wednesday’s byelection to defeat the six other candidates vying for the seat.
Fatima Coodvadia was a distant second with 151 votes, while Maureen Bourke placed third garnering 124 votes.
Rounding out the field was: Oma Malik 77, Ken Gryschuk 73, Manya Traeger-Faria 26, Bill Williams 19.
The seat was left vacant by incumbent Kevin Waugh following his successful federal election bid in Saskatoon-Grasswood for the Conservative Party.
The results of the by election will be made official on Friday.
