A member of the Regina Police Service was taken to hospital for treatment Thursday after suffering an injury while trying to make an arrest.
Members of the street crimes and investigative response units located and identified a man who was the subject of an arrest warrant just after 3:30 p.m. The man was facing a charge of breach of recognizance.
As officers tried to arrest the man, he jumped into the passenger seat of a vehicle, which drove off. While that was happening, the open door of the vehicle struck an officer’s leg. The officer was taken to hospital for treatment.
The vehicle was later found abandoned at the Regent Park Shopping Centre. The man was located at a business, and the driver was found at another nearby business. Both were arrested without further incident.
No charges have been laid against the man and youth driving the vehicle. Charges are pending the outcome of the investigation.
