A new condo building in Saskatoon features a program that is a first for the city.
The Shangri-La, located on 4th Avenue North, celebrated its grand opening on Friday.
The complex, built by North Prairie Developments, will feature the city’s first private car-sharing program.
For a fee, residents will be able to book the use of a vehicle kept on site. The program could potentially allow some not to own a private car, but underground parking is still available for those who do want to keep their own wheels.
North Prairie’s Krista Nakonechny said the car-sharing idea has taken hold in condo complexes in several larger cities. She said the company is willing to wait and see what kind of uptake the program gets from residents. Ultimately, she said it was all about trying to offer something new to set the building apart in the market.
