Saskatchewan drops opener in extra end

Team Saskatchewan dropped their opening game at the Tim Horton’s Brier in Ottawa, losing 6-5 in an extra end on Saturday night. 

With the hammer in 10, Steven Laycock’s rink had to settle for one, forcing the extra frame against Brad Jacobs of Northern Ontario.

Facing two and looking for a run back, Laycock’s final stone in the 11th end came up just short.

The Nutana skip will look to bounce back with two draws on Sunday. Saskatchewan faces Team Canada(1-0) in the morning draw at 8 a.m. and BC at 1 p.m.
