A Saskatchewan NDP candidate is publicly apologizing for comments he made on social media about “stupid farmers” two years ago.
The apology comes after the Sask. Party dug up and reposted a screencapture image of the Facebook posts by current Saskatoon Northwest NDP candidate Clayton Wilson. The posts were written before he became a candidate.
A search of Clayton Wilson’s Facebook page reveals that the comments have now been deleted.

Brad Wall posted the image to his Facebook page with the comment “so, an NDP candidate thinks farmers are stupid”. This happened Wednesday, just in time for both party leaders to speak at the Saskatchewan Association of Rural Municipalities (SARM) convention.

While at another event Wednesday morning, NDP leader Cam Broten was asked about the comments and called them unacceptable.
“I’m accepting his apology and he’ll be making a public statement and apology as well and I accept that,” Broten said. “It’s obviously totally incorrect what he said, and he’ll remain as a candidate recognizing that what he said is wrong and he’s sorry for it.”
Broten went on to explain that he wasn’t aware of the comment prior to Wilson’s nomination and if he had been aware he would have spoken with him earlier.
Wall later said he respected the steps that were taken to deal with the comments.
