It was a close call in Prince Albert on Friday when an alleged impaired driver stole a truck with a baby in the back seat.
Prince Albert Police Service said the baby was left in the truck which was unlocked with the keys in the ignition parked at the 200 block of 16th Street West while the parent had gone into a business.
While the parent was inside the business, a 25-year-old woman allegedly entered the truck while impaired and drove away with the infant.
Thankfully a witness told an officer in the area, and the stolen truck was located shortly after. After a traffic stop the woman was arrested and taken into custody.
The baby was not hurt and returned to the parent.
Maxine Charles has been charged with theft of a motor vehicle and drunk driving.
She made her first appearance at Prince Albert Provincial Court Monday and was remanded back into custody. A bail hearing has been scheduled for Tuesday morning.
