Don’t put away the snow shovel just yet: as of Wednesday morning, Saskatoon received up to eight centimetres of snow according to Environment Canada.
John Paul Cragg, meteorologist with Environment Canada, said a slow accumulation of snow is expected over the next few days, with one or two more inches by Thursday.
But come Saturday, temperatures will be back up above zero.
“Even though we’re forecasting a warmer than average spring, there’s still a chance of seeing snow through March and April, and on the very odd chance in May as well,” Cragg said.
In fact, Cragg said the record snowfall for Saskatoon in May is around 19 cm.
Areas in north-east Saskatchewan near Hudson Bay were hit the hardest, getting up to 30 cm of snow.
“But still a decent snowfall, even for places like Saskatoon, given that we went from no snow cover to complete white outside,” Cragg said.
