With over 7,000 Irish themed pubs to choose from worldwide, people definitely aren’t short of choices for St.Patrick’s Day.
And the Irish Times Pub in Victoria will probably be one of the busiest.
It was voted one of the best Irish pubs outside of Ireland last year by the Irish readers of Irish Times, and the only one in Canada to make that list.
So what makes this pub so popular?
“I think it’s because we foster the Irish,” Demian Merino general manager said on Gormley Wednesday. “We have very authentic food, drink and atmosphere. Everybody that walks in the door feels like they’re in Ireland.
Merino says besides the food a drink, they tried their best to duplicate things from Ireland.
“We have a hand carved bar. Everything from our brass fixtures to all the decorations and props are from Ireland. The boss went all out on making it as authentic as possible.”
Merino expects one special record to be broken this St.Patrick’s Day.
The record for most kegs of Guinness to be consumed is 15. He expects to go through 18 today. That works out to 2,232 pints.
