A teen is facing charges after the high school in Strasbourg was secured twice last week.
News Talk Radio has learned that William Derby School was put under a hold and secure on Monday, March 7 and Friday, March 11. That’s where students are kept inside the building and the outdoor doors are locked, but classes and activities continue as normal inside.
RCMP say on both occasions, threats were made towards three people. Mounties, however, refuse to say whether the threats were made against teachers or students.
On March 7, a 14-year-old was arrested at the school and charged with one count of uttering threats. The same teen was arrested at a home on March 11 and charged with two counts of uttering threats.
The teen cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. RCMP are also not identifying the teen’s gender.
The teen is not in custody, and is scheduled to make their first court appearance on April 15.
