The Globe Theatre is getting a visit from a royal couple to help it celebrate 50 years.
Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex, and his wife Sophie, the Countess of Wessex, are coming to the Queen City on June 22 for a celebratory gala event to be held at the Conexus Arts Centre.
“Sophie had never been to Regina before so we’re really looking forward to having her. Edward has been a tremendous patron. He’s keenly interested in Globe Theatre and the well-being of this organization,” explained Ruth Smillie, the theatre’s artistic director and CEO.
The gala will include a private reception, followed by a meal and dessert, before the couple take in a performance of A Closer Walk with Patsy Cline.
“They’re very personable. They’re really keen to meet people. It’s going to be a really up close and personal event,” said Smillie.
Tickets to the gala will be available to the public March 28 and can be purchased through the Globe Theatre Box Office at 306-525-6400.
