RCMP have charged an Alberta man with the murder of two women in Lloydminster in 2007 and 2009.
The charges are in relation to the 2007 death of Jeannette Chief and the 2009 death of Violet Heathen.
Chief was last seen around midnight on June 2, 2007 leaving the Onion Lake Cree Nation. The 48-year-old woman’s body was found days later, on June 6, outside of Lloydminster.
Heathen was last seen in Lloydminster on May 15, 2009 in Lloydminster. Her remains weren’t found for months, discovered near Kitscoty, Alba. on Nov. 7.
RCMP say a 59-year-old man was arrested Tuesday in connection to both murders. His name hasn’t been released, and RCMP haven’t said where he lives now or where he was living at the time of the murders.
He faces two counts of first-degree murder.
RCMP will be speaking about the case from the “K” division headquarters in Edmonton sometime Thursday.
