When searching for a good deal on a piece of property, it’s not every day you come across an old school.
McLellan School in Young, boasting 36,000 square feet, has been posted on the McDougall Auctioneers website.
Auctioneer Terry McDougall said there could be many uses for it.
“It could be used as a community type of centre. It could be used as a training centre or you could make into transition housing,” he said.
McClellan school was decommissioned in 2013. The school was built in four stages, dating back to 1953. Construction was completed in 1983.
There is a large gym area and all the floors still look as though they have never been stepped on.
The owners are asking $360,000 but the highest bid as of Tuesday afternoon was $155,000.
“It’s not a final sale. We submit the high bid and then the owners have an opportunity to accept that high bid,” McDougall said.
The bidding process closes Mar. 31.
