There could be a whole lot more people voting in the coming provincial election.
According to Elections Saskatchewan, there are 150,000 more eligible voters registered ahead of voting day on April 4 than were registered for the last provincial election in 2011.
There are approximately 815,000 eligible voters in Saskatchewan, and the coverage rate is at 92 per cent. In 2011 76 per cent of eligible voters were registered before election day.
“This is a significant improvement in the quality of the list, and is a result of several busy months of promoting registration, having voters register, and updating voters’ identity and address information,” said Dr. Michael Boda, chief electoral officer of Saskatchewan in a news release.
The voters list closed on Wednesday night, but for those not registered to vote yet, they can still register in person at the poll.
