A 27-year-old man faces a number of charges after a his vehicle was spotted driving erratically early Monday morning before being involved in a crash.
The Regina Police Service say the man’s vehicle was first spotted by officers around 5:30 a.m. in the Cathdral neighbourhood. Shortly afterwards, police received a complaint about a vehicle with a similar description driving erratically in the Eastview area.
Police believe the same vehicle ended up going through a red light at Winnipeg Street and Saskatchewan Drive, hitting another vehicle. The man driving the suspect vehicle then ran off on foot.
Police dogs were able to track the suspect down on the 1700 block of Toronto Street, where the man tried to run away again. He was arrested and taken to the hospital for minor injuries.
The 27-year-old is charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, failure to stop at the scene of an accident and possession of stolen property. His name has not been released.
He makes his first court appearance Tuesday.
