If they get your vote this election, the Green Party will review photo radar.
While door-knocking, Green Party leader Victor Lau says he is hearing nothing but complaints from voters who believe photo radar is a cash cow and doesn’t impact safety.
“I think our concern is obviously safety for citizens, but if it is not actually reducing people’s speeding and just collecting fines, it needs to be reviewed.”
Such a complaint isn’t new. Through a Freedom of Information request, News Talk Radio learned speed was not a factor in accidents at some the locations the photo radar is found.
The Saskatchewan Party’s Brad Wall maintains photo radar isn’t a cash grab.
“It does generate money for municipalities and government, but the point is increased safety and it is what we will have to monitor for.”
