A suspect wanted for a string of bank robberies in Saskatoon is now behind bars after he was arrested in Lloydminster Friday.
Saskatoon police say Mounties in the border city arrested a 41-year-old man in connection to six bank heists in Alberta – five in Edmonton and one in Calgary – between March and April.
Detectives determined the same person was also responsible for robberies on March 28 and April 6 in Saskatoon.
A spokesperson with the Saskatoon Police Service says they have requested an arrest warrant, which means the suspect will be brought back to Saskatoon to face charges in addition to the counts in Alberta.
The suspect remains in custody awaiting his first court appearance.
The investigation by Edmonton, Calgary and Lloydminster police is ongoing.
