Quinten Odnokon says it was like “watching reality TV right from your window.”
The owner of Robin’s Nest Cafe in Vanscoy watched as dozens of police surrounded his cafe Saturday afternoon in search of a group of suspects in a car chase.
The chase began in Saskatoon, and moved out of the city westward on Highway 7. Five of the six suspects were arrested after they stopped at a Vanscoy gas station. It’s unclear why they stopped.
“A guy was running around the building … and then two seconds later a police offer is chasing him and we see the K-9 unit run past the police officer,” Odnokon told News Talk moments after the chase ended.
He said he and his staff watched as the police dog chased and caught the suspect in a bush less than 50 feet from their back door. An employee then told him a female suspect was in their bathroom.
“One of my customers got up, went out and told the police officer that there’s someone in the bathroom here. They went towards the bathroom, kicked the door in and got her arrested,” he said.
Police have five people in custody and are searching for one more. The public is not believed to be in any danger.
