Arson is suspected in fires in three vacant farmyards north of Regina this month.
RCMP say the first suspicious fire happened in the Cupar area in the evening of April 2. Police and fire crews were called to the yard around 5:20 p.m. A house, outbuilding and vehicle were destroyed.
Around 7 p.m. on April 7, a large wooden barn burned in the RM of Mount Hope. However, RCMP say the fire wasn’t reported to police until three days later.
Then around 11 a.m. on April 9, the Raymore Fire Department was called to a structure fire that destroyed a house and an outbuilding. High winds Saturday morning caused the fire to spread to the surrounding field. The flames jumped the road to the next field. Fire crews worked for several hours to bring the fire under control and prevent it from spreading.
RCMP are looking to speak to anyone who saw suspicious people or vehicles in the area on those days. All of the fires happened during daylight hours, and are believed to be arson.
Mounties also remind land owners in the area to keep an eye on their properties.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Punnichy RCMP at 306-835-5200 or Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS(8477).
