A Saskatoon swimmer is diving into international waters after securing a spot on Team Canada over the weekend.
Samantha Ryan, 16, has been nominated to the Canadian Paralympics Swim Team and will compete in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil this year.
Ryan received her nomination to Team Canada at the swimming Olympic trials in Toronto Sunday.
The teen took gold at the event, with a personal best in the 100 Fly.
Ryan is the first swimmer from the Saskatoon Goldfins Swim Club to make it to the Olympic games.
She will continue to train with the local club in addition to her training with the national team ahead of the international competition.
The Paralympics take place Sept. 7 to 18 in Brazil.
