Two men have been arrested and charged in connection to Braidy Vermette’s escape from custody last month.
Richard Favel had previously been sought for assisting in the escape. He was arrested Sunday at a home in Prince Albert.
Wade Halkett was arrested Tuesday at another home.
Both men have been charged with assisting Vermette’s escape from lawful custody, assault with a weapon, use of a firearm in commission of an offence and disguise with intent.
Favel was previously charged with breaching his recognizance, and was featured on Prince Albert Police Service’s Most Wanted list.
Police say Favel and Halkett are believe to be the masked men who assaulted correctional officers during Vermette’s escape outside Victoria Hospital.
They are still investigating to determine if anyone else may have been involved in the escape.
Vermette was taken back into custody from a burning house with his girlfriend Tristen Smith on April 7. He was remanded to the Saskatchewan Penitentiary.
Vermette is one of two men facing first-degree murder charges in the death of Troy Napope.
