In a nice gesture, city workers could move your car for you, but in at least one case it could get pretty far away.
During April and May, the city is street sweeping. The signs go up in a neighbourhood, warning people not to park on the street for a set time. If there are vehicles on the street in that time, they can be towed away.
Normally they would be towed to the city’s compound. To get it out, the owner would need to pay the $110 ticket, plus the impound and towing fees. But sometimes, parking enforcement will move the car just around the corner.
“If it’s possible to do it, it’s nice to see that they can, a lot of cases where the vehicles get towed it’s just they’re not in a convenient spot to find somewhere else to drop them,’ said Norm Kyle, director of roadways and transportation with the City of Regina.
News Talk Radio was told about one instance this week, where a person’s car was moved two or three blocks away, which would certainly be difficult to find.
Kyle said that situation isn’t the norm.
“In that instance they would have at least saved the person the towing and impound charges.”
