An Alberta man is facing murder charges after an Onion Lake First Nation man died following an assault.
On Friday, April 15, Onion Lake RCMP were called to a residence on the First Nation where a man was in distress. He was transported to hospital in Lloydminster and then Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon before succumbing to his injuries.
Louis Carson Pipe, 39, from Kehewin, Alberta was taken into custody and originally charged with aggravated assault. His charge was elevated to second-degree murder after the man’s death.
Pipe is scheduled to make his first court appearance in Lloydminster Provincial Court on Monday at 10 a.m.
An autopsy has been scheduled on the victim for Tuesday in Saskatoon.
