Mark Messier is her distant cousin, but this Sask. hockey product is carving her own path.
The Saskatoon Stars blanked the host Weyburn Gold Wings 2-0 in the opening game of the Esso Cup midget girls hockey championships Sunday.
Emma Johnson made 22 saves for the shut out, while Anna Leschyshyn and Abby Shirley scored for Saskatoon.
The Stars face Express du Richelieu on Monday.
