The safety with one of the hardest hits in the CFL is hanging up his cleats.
In a release from the Saskatchewan Roughriders, Tyron Brackenridge announced his retirement from professional football.
“The decision to retire from the game I love is truly bittersweet,” Brackenridge said in the release. “I have been blessed to be able to play this game for the past 10 years, including five wonderful years with the Roughriders. I’m content with the decision and look forward to what lies ahead.”
Brackenridge bounced around the NFL before signing with the Roughriders in 2011. He had a break out year in 2012 and went on to sign an extension with the team in February of 2013. He won a Grey Cup with the team that year and continued on with the Green and White until he was released in the fall of 2015.
Over his CFL career, he amassed 254 defensive tackles, 18 special teams tackles, 10 interceptions, and four quarterback sacks. He picked up two CFL all-star selections in 2013 and 2014.
On behalf of myself & family. I would like to announce my retirement from the game I truly love… https://t.co/dHn4sJAVam
